Active Ingredients

BASF provides generic active ingredients for many therapeutic fields of application, making it the market leader for the substances caffeine, ibuprofen, pseudoephedrine and theophylline. We supply our customers throughout the world with products of consistently high quality from a total of six production facilities. Almost all production methods at the sites have been developed by BASF itself. These have been optimized over the years with the aim of satisfying official specifications and cGMP requirements.

Refusing to take the properties of our active ingredients for granted, we are continuously refining them to give our customers a crucial competitive edge. For example, BASF has provided the active ingredient in the new Ibuprofen DC 85 with a protective particle coating. This ensures a sturdier formulation during further processing, simplifies production sequences and thus helps to reduce costs.
