The BASF site at Minden has been producing pharmaceutical substances since 1939. Here, BASF operates the largest production facilities in the world for ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, caffeine and theophylline. Moreover, approximately 30 chemically different active ingredients and highly refined intermediates are manufactured in multi-product installations, both for the generic pharmaceuticals market as well as those that are tailor-made to specific customer requirements (custom synthesis).
